Skills Institutes do not have waitlists.
If a Skills Institute closes or fills before you can register for it, monitor the course enrollment status regularly for a seat to become available.

On-campus students have access to numerous Skills Institutes offered on campus and to select online Skills Institutes that occasionally become available for on-campus student registration. However, registration processes are different for on-campus Skills Institutes and online Skills Institutes.
Because Skills Institute offerings change each semester, you are encouraged to review current and upcoming Skills Institutes to make appropriate academic scheduling decisions. While all Skills Institutes offerings are listed together, on-campus students should narrow your search to the following SIS-730 Skills Institutes in International Affairs sections:
Follow standard registration procedures through Eagle Service to register for 000-099 section Skills Institutes. Students can now add or drop Skills Institutes online up to 24 hours before the course starts via the Eagle Service. If you are adding the class within 48 hours of the start, please contact the professor for any pre-assignments.
In the event that 300-399 section online Skills Institutes become available, on-campus students may not register online via Eagle Service. The registration process typically occurs earlier for these courses.
Students should proceed with the following registration steps at your earliest convenience to secure a spot in the course:
IR Online courses utilize the 2IR Learning Management System (not Blackboard), as well as Adobe Connect for the classroom experience. One-credit courses consist largely of live-session instruction where you see and hear your peers and faculty and learn in an intimate, interactive online environment. Students can submit assignments, watch videos, and access course materials at any time through the program’s mobile app in addition to the web-based platform. Students who sign up for a IR Online course will receive technology training the week before the course beings, as well as have access 24-hour technology support. A functioning webcam and access to an external audio line is required in order to participate in the IR Online program. Please contact IRonlineAdvising@american.edu with questions about the platform.
