Meet with an Advisor

When it comes to career advising, we want to see you early and often. From exploring career options to expanding your network, and from first resume review to mid-career strategy setting, our advisors are prepared to share thoughtful advice and strategic support to help you achieve your career goals.

We are happy to work with undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni.

Drop-in Advising

Drop in to see a career advisor for a 15-minute appointment. Drop-ins are first come, first served and you can bring any career topic. Meet with David Fletcher or Sara Jones!

Winter 2024 - Finals and Holiday Schedule (Mon, December 9 – Fri, December 20; Mon, Jan 6 – Fri, January 10)

  • Tuesday - you can meet with David virtually on Zoom from 12:30-2pm ET and from 4-6pm ET 
  • Wednesday - you can meet with David virtually on Zoom from 12:30-2pm ET and from 4-6pm ET 
  • Thursday -  you can meet with David virtually on Zoom 12:30-2pm ET and from 4-6pm ET

Mon, December 16: No advising

Mon, December 23 – Weds, January 1: University closed; no advising

Thurs, Jan 2 – Fri, Jan 3: No advising

Spring 2025 Schedule (Starts Mon, January 13) 

  • Monday - you can meet with Sara in person in the SIS atrium from 4-6 pm ET  
  • Tuesday - you can meet with David virtually on Zoom from 12:30-2pm ET and in person in the SIS atrium from 4-6 pm  ET
  • Wednesday - you can meet with David virtually on Zoom from 12:30-2pm ET and in person in the SIS atrium from 4-6pm ET 
  • Thursday -  you can meet with David virtually on Zoom 12:30-2pm ET and in person in the SIS atrium from 4-6pm ET 

 

Please note that these times are subject to change. Before coming to drop-ins, please email David or Sara to ensure they are happening that day. If we are out that day, we’ll let you know when we’ll be back and make sure you get in to see an advisor as soon as possible.

  • the date of your interview

  • the employer name

  • the name of the role and job description if possible (link or copied into a Word doc)

  • your resume

to arrange a 30-min mock interview.

Find the resume sample for your level (Undergraduate or Graduate) on our Application Materials page (Resources column, right side). Read the notes in the margins and adapt yours so it is in this format. 

Cover Letter:

Read through the cover letter overview and common mistakes on our Application Materials page. Then, look at the Sample Job Description with Tailored Resume and Cover Letter (Resources column, right side). Read the notes in the margins and try to draft a tailored cover letter in this format. It’s okay if it’s not perfect – come with your questions! 

LinkedIn Profile:

Check your LinkedIn profile for the 5 basic elements we recommend on our Application Materials page: Profile picture, Headline, Summary, Experience, and Education. 

Interview Prep 

Discuss how to prepare for your interview, including questions that might be asked and how to respond effectively.
