Creative Commons (CC) has engaged with a wide variety of stakeholders such as artists and content creators, as part of its ongoing community consultation on generative AI, to explore ways of addressing the artists’ concerns. CC has published an open letter from over 70 artists who use generative AI. Some of the perspectives shared by the artists include opinions on the need for utilizing generative AI to pursue artistic visions and make it available to the average person. Some artists also voiced concerns regarding the over-regulation or banning of AI as a way of closing a huge potential doorway for small creators and businesses.
