Asha Scielzo

Asha Scielzo serves as the Director of AUWCL's Health Law and Policy Program and as an Adjunct Professor of Law. In this leadership role, Professor Scielzo assists with development of the health law and policy curriculum, recruitment of adjunct professors, expansion of health law externships, career counseling, career panels and other programming. She advises the student-led Health Law & Policy Brief and Health Law & Policy Students Association. She founded and manages the annual WCL National Health Law Writing Competition and directs the annual Health Law & Policy Summer Institute. Professor Scielzo brings over 15 years of large law firm practice experience to the law school. As a practitioner, she concentrated her practice on health care regulatory counseling, with expertise in fraud and abuse and reimbursement considerations and their impact on day-to-day operations, corporate compliance and governance, and transactions.

Reema Taneja

Reema Taneja, Esq. is Senior Counsel at Nixon Gwilt Law. She draws upon a depth of experience in the healthcare industry from both a legal and policy perspective. She has experience advising hospitals, health systems, digital health companies and pharmacies on regulatory compliance, innovative business arrangements, and leading edge healthcare policy reforms. Her areas of expertise include digital health; telepharmacy; telepet; MSO implementation; provider reimbursement; fraud, waste, and abuse; and advising provider groups on growth opportunities. Prior to joining Nixon Gwilt Law, Reema served as the Director of Policy and Regulatory Affairs at the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA), where she advised members on pharmacy regulation and policy, federal fraud and abuse law, pharmacy innovation and partnerships, and long-term care. Reema worked closely with the association's Innovation Center in ensuring any new business opportunities were not only beneficial for members, but also in compliance with existing healthcare laws and regulations. Earlier in her career, Reema practiced at a healthcare law firm in Washington, D.C. where she represented hospitals and health systems. In addition, Reema spent some time as an extern with the HHS Departmental Appeals Board (DAB) where she wrote Medicare appeals decisions for DAB ALJs. Reema graduated cum laude from George Mason University and then attended American University Washington College of Law. Professor Taneja is teaching Digital Health and the Law: Artificial Intelligence & Telehealth Applications (LAW 719HT-001) in the 2024 Health Law and Policy Summer Institute.
