Nasser Alreshaid

SJD Candidate

 

Nasser Alreshaid, an SJD Candidate at American University Washington College of Law, is completing his dissertation entitled, “GCC States’ Initiated Sustainable Government Procurement Institutions in an International Trade and Investment Law’s World.” He is a SJD Representative on the LL.M./SJD Board and a Sustainable Development Law and Policy Staff member.

Mr. Alreshaid was a member of the Kuwaiti National Council on Human Rights, and co-authored both Kuwait’s National Report on Human Rights, as part of the UPR process to the UNHRC, and Kuwait’s Civil and Political Rights Report to the UN. He was also appointed to prepare Kuwait’s first report on human rights to the League of Arab States. In addition, he supervised parliamentary and municipality elections. He worked as a prosecutor at the Public Prosecution of Kuwait primarily on economic crimes, including public funds related crimes, money laundering, corruption, and commercial activities offences. Recently, he started focusing his research on Post-Arab Spring societies. He is currently a consultant at the World Bank working on Global Indicators.
