Dr. Luna Barakat
SJD Program Graduate
Dr. Barakat sucessfully completed her S.J.D. degree at American University Washington College of Law. The title of her dissertation was “Silent Corporate Complicity of Transnational Corporations in Gross Human Rights Violations Committed by Host States.” Her fields of study and professional expertise include: international human rights law and international humanitarian law. Prior to joining the Washington College of Law’s S.J.D. program, Dr. Barakat led a legal practice in Israel that specialized in working with governmental and non-governmental actors to understand and promote their human rights obligations. She also participated in the Law & Business Fellowship Program at the Wharton School through which she worked at Reed Smith LLP, Philadelphia, on cases involving Guantanamo Bay detainees, asylum and death penalty cases.
