John Marvel Associate Professor Public Administration and Policy
- Bio
- John Marvel’s research focuses broadly on public management, with particular interests in public sector employee turnover, work motivation, and manager-employee relationships. In addition to appearing in Public Administration Review, his work has also been published in The State of Public Administration: Issues, Challenges, and Opportunities (D. Menzel and H. White, eds.), and What Do We Expect from Our Government? (Radin and Chanin, eds.). He has presented his research at the annual meetings of the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management, the Public Management Research Association, the American Political Science Association, and the Midwest Political Science Association. His teaching experience includes undergraduate political science research methods, MPP/MPA research methods, organization theory, and policy analysis. He received his PhD from American University and his BA (economics) from Amherst College (Amherst, MA).
