Notice of Availability and Location of the Annual Fire Safety Report

The Office of Risk, Safety and Transportation Programs, in conjunction with the American University Police Department and Housing and Residence Life, is committed to a continuous improvement and review process for fire safety within University residence halls.  To this end, the Annual Fire Safety Report is posted on the American University Police Departments’ web site at:

As required by the 2008 amendments to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, American University publishes an annual report detailing fire prevention policies and fire safety equipment within university owned and operated residence halls. The report also includes statistics for all fire events that occurred in campus residence halls during the 2015-2017 calendar years.
