TESOL Bachelor’s/Master's Degree
American University offers qualified students the opportunity to earn both undergraduate and graduate degrees through its accelerated bachelor’s/master’s program. American University undergraduate students may earn a bachelor’s degree in any field and a master’s in TESOL in as few as five and a half years. The department that oversees the graduate program the student enters will determine if the courses the undergraduate student completes satisfy master’s degree requirements. Bachelor’s/master’s students must complete at least 18 in-residence credit hours at the graduate level after the bachelor’s degree is earned and maintain continuous, sequential enrollment in both programs. This program enables qualified students to earn both a BA or BS in any major and an MA in TESOL. Please note that this program is not designed for K–12 ESOL licensure. Applicants should apply through the College of Arts and Sciences graduate admissions.
